Our mission is to restore the natural, carnivorous diet of pets by providing truly raw, meat-based nutrition. We are committed to offering pet owners the highest quality raw pet food at a reasonable price, ensuring their pets thrive in the healthiest and most natural way possible. At our core, we believe that carnivores should be allowed to be carnivores again – living and eating as nature intended.

Getting our start.

In the 1980s, our founder Peter Beukers immigrated to the US and brought his vast knowledge of meat along with him. A Master Butcher by trade and an animal lover by heart, Peter noticed that there was something very wrong with the pet food industry: thanks to over-processed kibble, there’s a tremendous nutritional gap in our pets’ diets. Peter decided to change that.

Local deliveries expand.

Known as Top Quality Dog Food, we started out as a hyper-local production operation based in Maryland, serving a modest customer base with local deliveries. In 2005, we expanded our delivery route to the Philadelphia region, and in 2007 we expanded all the way up the east coast to New England. All the while hand-delivering the orders ourselves in our TQDF delivery truck.

We got our own place.

In 2014, we kept growing and expanded into our own standalone facility with our own processing equipment.

We launched our first e-commerce website.

In 2019, we launched our first website that allowed for online retail. The website gave us access to a wider customer base so we started shipping orders that we
didn’t have the capacity to deliver ourselves. And by 2022, we parked the TQDF delivery truck for good. This new site also enabled us to discover and partner with wholesalers across the US to expand our reach even further.

A new generation steps up.

In 2021, a new generation took over and Peter’s son Zach was officially at the helm. With a self-funded $2.2 million dollar upgrade to the facility, production equipment, and processing technology, TQDF got a total overhaul. From the flooring to the freezers, everything was upgraded and improved.

Rebranding to Carnos.

In early 2024, it was time for another kind of makeover. We did a full branding refresh, changed our name and everything! But while the outward appearance of Top Quality Dog Food evolved into our new look — Carnos — what makes us tick has never changed.

Our product line expanded.

In late 2024 we also launched a new product line to meet the needs of a new sector of raw feeders. Just as Carnos has evolved, so has raw feeding; when our company was founded, “complete and balanced meals” weren’t a thing and DIY was king. But things have changed. We created our ready-to-serve Complete & Balanced product line to meet the needs of today’s raw feeders who prioritize convenience.
